Nicolas Ghesquière, the artistic director of women’s collections at Louis Vuitton, is far from pleased about Donald Trump’s recent appearance alongside LVMH management.
Yesterday the designer took to Instagram to voice his displeasure at the US President’s ties with the brand. “Standing against any political action” the designer wrote, “I am a fashion designer refusing this association #trumpisajoke #homophobia.”
The post comes just days after Trump attended the opening of Louis Vuitton’s leather goods workshop in Alvarado, Texas. At the event, Donald Trump spent time liaising with LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault and Louis Vuitton CEO Michael Burke, which Ghesquière was clearly not fond of.
Ghesquière, who joined Louis Vuitton in 2013 after spending 15 years at Balenciaga, is the latest of several prominent designers, like Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford, to speak out against the Trump administration.
